I've loved animals for as long as I can remember & my 10th birthday present was Brandy, a 3 year old miniature poodle from a local rescue centre. The previous year I'd been given horse riding lessons & had spent the next 12 months nagging for a pony of my own. As a compromise I was given a dog!
When I left school the love of horses took over & after a couple of years at agricultural college I became a full time groom working on a variety of different yards. Although I didn't always have a dog of my own, where there's horses there's generally dogs so I was never starved of their company.
My earliest memories of dogs was a gentle black labrador called Ben. He belonged to my Gran who always had dogs from rescue. I'm sure she influenced my own choices of canine companions as I've followed in her footsteps & been owned by a number of them myself over the years.
In 2007 I took on my biggest challenge, Dylan, a large mongrel who was then 18 months old. Our first couple of years together were a steep learning curve... & so my passion for dog training began!
We were lucky enough to find a great training club & after working through many issues we spent a number of years working as part of their dog display team. During this time I also completed their trainer development course & then went on to become a full member of the APDT & set up a training club of my own.
