Mantrailing is an exciting dog sport that teaches you & your dog to use the power of their nose to find a person by following their specific scent.
All Dogs have a natural ability to trail. Mantrailing harnesses their amazing sense of smell & turns it into a super fun activity to do with our Dogs!
Utilising the same methods used by police, military & rescue dog teams all over the world, we will to teach your Dog to follow a trail from a 'scent article' to find their hidden person.
One of the many amazing things about this sport is that it is fully accessible to all people & Dogs, regardless of age, breed or disability.
Dogs are always worked one a time which means even those with confidence and reactivity issues can take part!
It is low impact on the body but high impact on the brain & it helps provide an outlet for natural predatory behaviour in a constructive way.
Mantrailing is also a great way to introduce new people & environments to your Dog in a positive way.
Mantrailing is a dog led sport that allows the dog to make choices independently from you. This is great for building your dog's confidence & allowing them to choose a desirable & rewarding behaviour to redirect from problem behaviours.
It is stress reducing, confidence building & empowering for your dog.
Mantrailing is a low impact sport which, unlike some dog sports, means there is less pressure & stress on your dogs joints allowing puppies, older dogs & those who need more careful exercise management to still join in the fun.
Mantrailing also relies heavily on teamwork & it's important to have a line of communication between you & your dog at all times. Therefore, dogs are kept on a long-line throughout the training session meaning that dogs without recall or basic training can also take part.
Introduction workshops are for those new to Mantrailing or those wanting to refresh their basic skills.
They involve a mixture of theory & practical learning, covering teaching your dog to take scent & trail on cue, learning how to handle the longline effectively & trailing with your own dog to learn their behaviour & body language on the trail.
During the workshop participants will hide for other Dog teams & learn how to be an efficient Trail Layer... a very important role & a skill in itself!
You will also gain valuable learning by observing the trails of other Dog & handler teams.
Upon completion of the workshop you will be awarded a certificate & will be welcome to attend any of our Progression Sessions. As a welcome gift, you will also receive a voucher code to obtain 25% off your first two sessions with BDDT.
